The daily routine of an 8-month-old
Eight months is the month of the move to two naps for many babies — and it is also the month of separation anxiety. The two land together, which makes the period particularly confusing.
The two-nap rhythm changes the day more than you would expect. Awake windows jump to three hours and beyond, and the last one reaches nearly four. A baby who managed two and a half hours a month ago now has to manage a good deal more: the first weeks are often hard.
If your baby still takes three naps at eight months, they are not behind. A good share of babies this age have not switched yet.
